As we all know it, high blood pressure is one of the diseases that silently kill millions of people every year all over the world. Like other kinds of diseases like diabetes, HBP also knows no race, age, gender and color. It just strikes from out of nowhere and before you know it, you were already a victim. Many people who have this disease don't have a way of knowing it until they were struck by its adverse effects. This is also a type of disease that makes almost every aging person its target. As people age, they become more and more vulnerable to this killer.

Where this Disease Came From

Regardless of technological advances that we have today, little is still known about the true origins of this killer disease. As of now, only risk factors have been determined but not the real origin of it. It is not clear until now what and where this disease came from because in was so widespread that that makes it too hard to pinpoint. In addition to all these characteristics, another mysterious behavior of this disease is that, it has a propensity to affect mainly certain races like Afro-Caribbean as well as South Asian but most of the fatalities can be traced back to the Caucasians.

Different Types of the Killer

To have a deeper understanding of the disease, knowing its characteristics and all its types is one of the best steps to do. Here are some facts regarding different HBP types:

Primary or essential hypertension. It is the most common type of high blood pressure and is accounted for more than 90% of all the cases. It is also the most mysterious of them all because it is the type that has no known cause. As of now, only speculations about its origin are being held upon by the experts that include genetic as well as environmental issues. Secondary hypertension. This type is less known and is also uncommon. Unlike the first type, this is only a by-product of other original diseases that was already suffered by the person or, it is a condition that was developed after a lingering medication. This type can become a precursor of other deadly complications like aorta narrowing, thyroid malady, kidney malfunctions and adrenal gland tumors. Isolated systolic hypertension. Blood pressure reading will give us two sets of numbers, the one on top or the systolic pressure and the lower set of numbers or the diastolic pressure. In this case only the top or the systolic pressure rises and while diastolic pressure remains normal. Isolated diastolic hypertension. This type of hypertension is the exact opposite of isolated systolic hypertension wherein only the diastolic pressure rises while systolic pressure remains normal. White coat hypertension. This is some sort of a phobia wherein the blood suddenly rises when a person visits a medical person like a nurse or s doctor. Maybe it is due to stress.

No matter how many types of high blood pressure there is all we have to do is just to be prepared about it and being prepared is to have proper armor against it. Avoid foods that were most likely to cause blood pressure to rise, have a plenty of exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.
